Feasibility of stereotactic body radiotherapy for locally-advanced non-small cell lung cancer
SBRT was feasible for approximately half of the locally-advanced NSCLC patients we assessed and for these patients has the potential to reduce a 30 fraction course to 12 fractions. Using SBRT in this setting requires compromises in techniques and further compromises may allow SBRT in a greater proportion of patients.
متن کاملRadiotherapy Dosing for Locally Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma: “MTD” or “ALARA”?
Locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC) is typically treated with thoracic radiotherapy, often in combination with cytotoxic chemotherapy. Despite tremendous advances in the evaluation, treatment techniques, and supportive care measures provided to LA-NSCLC patients, local disease progression and distant metastases frequently develop following definitive therapy. A recent landmar...
متن کاملConcurrent chemoradiotherapy in locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer: a retrospective analysis of the correlation between radiotherapy-related factors and tumor response
Background: To determine which radiotherapy parameters are associated with the tumor response of locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Materials and Methods: Thirty one patients with IIIA/IIIB NSCLC underwent chemoradiotherapy with a median dose of 63 Gy. On our actual treatments, we made radiotherapy planning to cover the planning...
متن کاملMultimodality treatment in locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
Prognosis in patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is poor (five year survival rate of 5% [1]). Radiotherapy (RT), chemotherapy (CT) and surgery (S), as single modality therapeutical approaches are unable to eradicate locoregional disease and to control systemic microscopic disease. Concurrent chemoradiation (CTRT) is at present time deemed to be the standard of care...
متن کاملNeoadjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to evaluate the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the treatment of locally advanced non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) followed by radiotherapy versus radiotherapy alone. MATERIAL AND METHODS Sixty nine patients were randomized to chemotherapy (group A) or radiotherapy alone (group B). The induction chemotherapy consists of cisplatin (80 mg/m2) day ...
